Day 3
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today can be spent lazing around the garden or visiting the silk village
or the market (your choice). The hunting will take place at dusk!
Wearing a miner's helmet with spot lamp attached, we go out into
the paddy fields to hunt edible frogs. During the rainy season, we
may also spot and catch a mud-skipper type species of fish that, using
their flippers, will walk on land. We catch them as they head from
one water hold to another. Both frogs and fish are very tasty when
roasted and added to rice and bamboo shoots.

Day 4
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today, you will accompany one of the village elders. In the morning,
you will try your hand at fishing in the lake, using a weighted swirl
net 3 metres in diameter. Any fish caught will be barbecued in the
evening. You will also learn how to comb the muddy lake bottom for
water beetles. These are 2-3” long, and when roasted have a
wonderful almond type flavour. In addition, you will be taught how
to make a variety of basket traps for eels and fish.
After a late lunch, we go scorpion and lizard hunting. Your guide is an expert at tracking these and there is no shortage of them.
