Day 1
Arrive by bus, train (or our transport). Our village is 10mins from bus station and 20 mins from train. [Pickup can be arranged in our 8 seater luxury vehicle from 3 airports, Udon 4,000 baht, Bangkok 5,500 baht, or our nearest airport 2 hours away Khon Kaen 2000 baht.]
Enjoy a late lunch, walk through the village and meet every one, share a drink in one of our little village shops and watch the cows and buffalos as they too make their way home through the village.
Day 2
Take a pre breakfast walk, jog, cycle, (new cycles for hire) - return to a superb full breakfast. Today you can spend a morning interacting with the school children (share spoken English with them).
Day 3
Today we can see the whole process of silk worm farming - first hand - from silk moth right through to trying your hand at weaving the end product from 100% pure silk thread. This is only possible because all the processes take place at different people's houses. Some breed the silk worms, others boil them, others spin, weave or dye. Most are elderly or disabled women who can no longer work in the rice fields. The income from the demonstration of their craft enables them to have a much better life.
Our sister village is one of the finest in Thailand. Each home visited is at a different stage of the production. In reality it's three months' intensive work, but all viewable in just one visit.
Afterwards you can take a trip to the local fruit tree man? You buy the trees, then you get to present and plant them in some of our poorer families' gardens. We promise annually to keep you updated on both the trees and the family's progress - pictures included.
Day 4
Departure, a time to reflect and know, not only have you contributed financially, but also to the social enjoyment of the villagers, thereby giving yourselves and ourselves the reward of enough memories to last a lifetime!
